		<description>I was 9 1/2 when we visited Alaska in July 1964. The aftermath was dramatic. I remember miles of mudflats, driving through streams around reconstruction of bridges, giant cracks in earth and roads and buildings, and piles of ruined man-made structures. We couldn&#039;t even get to Homer... no road yet. These images are still vivid for me, 45 years later, and from the perspective of a little kid.
